The Knowledge Base contains material produced by the LGTF and similar best practice organisations, plus articles from SCALAnews and other industry sources, and is sponsored by the LGTF.
The members of the LGTF care passionately about the people for whom they work, their local communities. They want to deliver to them the highest quality buildings, roads and landscapes at the lowest reasonable price. They believe that the best way of achieving these objectives is by using best value principles.
The LGTF provides leadership for local authorities in delivering the Efficiency and Improvement agendas, particularly through the use of Partnering and Framework arrangements. It has targeted four key areas on which to focus current activity. The four themes are as follows:
- Adoption of fair payments practices, including the avoidance of retentions
- Use of integrated supply chains, especially the early appointment of suppliers and sub-contractors
- Collaboration amongst authorities for construction procurement, particularly amongst district councils
- Sustainable solutions
The LGTF identifies exemplars of good practice, practically those which support their current area of activity. These are disseminated to local authority practitioners through a variety of case studies.
