Roger qualified as an architect in 1972. Following five years in the office of Denys Lasdun, he worked in London for 21 years in the long-established practice of Clifford Tee and Gale, eventually becoming a Senior Associate. In 1999 he decided to give in to the spare-time career he had followed since school days, so he and his wife moved to Ludlow in Shropshire and he became a full-time cartoonist.

During his architectural career with Clifford Tee and Gale he was instrumental in introducing CAD into the practice. This gave him endless material for cartoons about the trials and tribulations of that task, in particular coping with the endless versions of AutoCAD introduced since Version 1.2 back in the Jurassic period of CAD. Two book collections of his CAD cartoons were published in the USA.

In his cartoonist role he has produced editorial cartoons, calendars, greetings cards, advertising and corporate cartoons and a variety of other cartoon illustrations.  He has been a prize winner in several international cartoon contests and held one-man exhibitions in  UK, Turkey, Czech Republic and Poland. Collections of his cartoons have been published in UK and China.

He is currently Vice-President General of the International Federation of Cartoonists Organisations, having been President General for four years. He is a member of the British Cartoonists Association, the Cartoonists Club of GB and a Fellow of the RSA.  He is the originator and Chairman of the annual Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival, first held in 2004.

All Roger's cartoons are fully digital artworks, using Corel Painter, Wacom graphics tablets and Apple Mac computers.
