The Harbour Master’s Office, New Quay

pic of Loddon High School

The new harbourmaster’s office and ancillary accommodation in New Quay replaces an unsuitable temporary building and is located in a prominent position in the town with excellent views overlooking the harbour at one end of the historic listed quay. The opportunity has been taken to include a display of local history and a ticket office for boat trips in the building so that it will become a focus of local activity in the tourist season.

The form and materials chosen for the new building respond to its setting and the history of the area and address the contemporary requirements of the brief as well as the context in which the building is placed.
