Islington Arts and Media School
Building Solutions for Islington were commissioned in March 2000, to develop the Islington Arts and Media School’s existing campus to accommodate the demands of the school’s new specialist performing arts and media curriculum and the anticipated growth in student numbers.
The project included a new technology block, sports hall, and dance and drama wing in addition to re-modelling the existing accommodation to ensure full disabled access throughout the school.
An existing boiler house and teaching block were demolished to improve the circulation and external spaces of the campus and also to accommodate the technology wing within a new landscaped courtyard.
The sports hall and dance and drama wing adjoins the school’s existing administrative block, and expands the school canteen area by linking the two buildings at ground floor level with the introduction of a two storey, glazed foyer space, also serving as an events area.
The £3.4 million scheme was completed in March 2003 using the PPC 2000 Partnering Form of Contract.
